RSofNY

I have been going to the Mineola office since February and I am on my second natural cycle with 100 mg of Clomid and also taking Meformin as well. It worked well the first time so I agree with trying another cycle of this.

I know I've just started my journey, but I have only seen my RE once since when I began my first cycle over a month ago, is this normal? I guess technically I don't need to see him since the nurses and sono techs are there to answer my questions, but I just find it odd. I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page because almost every time I go I see a different nurse. Do you think he looks at my chart and tells the nurses how to proceed? Sorry for my long post - thoughts?

Re: RSofNY

I too am a patient of RSofNY in Stony Brook. everytime I go for bloodwork and/or sono I meet with an RE afterwards (whoever is on call that day) to discuss my results and next plan of action. Also, they will be on the same page since they have your chart in front of them each time, I know for me the doctor's make notes on my chart so the next time you meet with a different doctor, they know exactly what is going on.

Re: RSofNY

I go to the mineola office and when I go in for blood work and sono and I don't always see an RE. I just went thourgh my first IVF cycle and at one point I was going for blood work and sono everyday so I didn't expect to see one everytime. It really depends on where I am in my cycle and whats going on. And I know that for me even though I didn't see an RE each time I went, they were monitoring my cycle closely. But if you are not happy with your current course of treatment, I would set up an appointment for a consulation to discuss your other options. I would tell them you want to be more aggressive. Good Luck FM me if you have any questions.

Re: RSofNY

I was a patient at the Stony Brook office. I am high school teacher so I needed very early appointments. Sometimes, the docs were not in yet, so I saw a NP. I was always asked though, if I wanted to wait to see a doc. Sometimes I waited, and sometimes I saw a NP. If you want to see the doc, I would ask. Good luck to you! Chat Icon

On a side note... this last time around I met with two docs I have never met before and LOVED both of them. Dr. Sung and Dr. Halfen went above and beyond and I really loved them. Dr. Sung did my ER and transfer and Dr. Halfen helped me through OHSS and the shock of getting pregnant with triplets (at first).

I go to West Islip mainly and I always see an RE at every appointment. I go to Mineola for IUI's and weekend monitoring. Occasionally there I have spoken to the nurses, not the RE, after blood/sono, but I usually see an RE there too.

I would ask to see the doctor if you are more comfortable, I know I would rather see one of them than the nurses. I know the doctor reviews the bloodwork & sono report and would call with any changes, but I just feel more comfortable seeing them at the appointment.

Re: RSofNY

I was a patient at RSofNY in Mineola for about 18 months.

Usually i would see the RE at the beginning or end of each cycle to discuss how we would change the protocol for next time. During each monitoring visit, i always had the option of waiting to see the dr on call that day if i wanted. Or if there was a specific reason to see them mid cycle, i would see them after each appt. I knew which days my dr was in the office, so if possible i would schedule my monitoring for that day so i was able to meet with him in person. Otherwise, i had follow ups with some of the other dr's, but my dr always wrote his notes in my chart for the other doctors to refer to.

If you're concerned that you're not being seen enough, then by all means bring that up and ask them. It never hurts to ask!

Re: RSofNY

I went to the Mineola office and would make my appointments for before work for my blood / sono. This would be 6:30 - before the docs were even in!

I'd have to meet with my doc (Dr. Sung - LOVE her!) at the beginning of the month to discuss that month's plan, but after that, I didn't need to see her again for a while. The sono tech could measure my follies and tell me to come back in 3 days when there were none, and the nurses could draw my blood and call and tell me if I've O'ed.

When I finally had a good-sized follie, they had me meet with the doc who was coming in at 7:30 - Trivax - to discuss the protocol for the IUI I was to have the next day. I had to sit around for quite a while (and be really late for work!) but for that, I needed a doctor, so I was okay with it. (Oh, and the next day Dr. Sung did my IUI and it worked! Chat Icon)

Re: RSofNY

I go to the WI office for monitoring during the week, SB on weekends and Mineloa for IVF. The only time I have gone and not seen a DR is when having blood work done while in the 2WW and then they always asked if I wanted to see the DR for questions. The Dr's review your blood work/sono and tell the nurses what might change in your treatment before your afternoon phone call.

Good Luck

Re: RSofNY

I was a patient at RSofNY for over a year. I did a few IUIs and 4 failed IVF cycles. I should have switched REs MUCH sooner! It was clear that there was a lack of communication among the doctors and nurses. I felt like nobody had a handle on my specific case. Every time I went I saw a different doctor and nurse and had to remind each one of them about what was decided at my previous appointment. I ended up being totally frustrated and wasted a lot of my time. I switched to LIIVF and what a huge relief! Dr. Kengisberg diagnosed me with endometriosis on my first visit and I feel like I am getting the best treatment now. Don't wait to switch if you are feeling lost in the shuffle..best of luck to you. I know this is an extremely tough road..

Re: RSofNY

I have been a patient of RSofNY for several years and I can count on one hand the times I ONLY saw a nurse (it was usually a very early appt but was always given the option to sit and wait). While I do not see my specific RE for every appt, an RE reviews bloodwork everyday and gives guidance to RNs. At the end of every cycle, I would speak with RE and we would discuss plans for the new cycle. They are very willing to work with you and if you have any concerns I would absolutely make an appt. to speak with your RE midcycle.

Sorry you had this experience. She is not my primary RE but I have heard great things about Dr. Cain and her donor egg program. Wish you the best with your new REChat Icon
